MoEYS and Cambodian Sports Association in the US Forge New Path for Athletic Excellence

Phnom Penh, Cambodia - March 29, 2024: In a move to bolster high-level professional sports, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Cambodia Sports Association in the United States. The signing ceremony, which took place on the morning of March 28, 2024, marked a commitment to enhance cooperation, development, and participation in sports while fostering the exchange of coaches and athletes.

Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State, and Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of MoEYS, were present at the ceremony, alongside distinguished officials such as Bou Chum Serey, Undersecretary of State, and Bun Sok, Director General of the General Department of Sports. The gathering also included heads of units from the General Department of Sports at MoEYS.

This MOU aims to support the national sports policy by ensuring no Cambodian athlete is left behind, serving the interests of Cambodian children abroad, and harnessing the athletic talent of Cambodian youth. A particular focus is the preparation for the 5th Asian Youth Games, set to be hosted by Cambodia, providing an excellent platform for young athletes to showcase their skills on an international level.

The partnership between MoEYS and the Cambodian sports community in the United States is poised to identify and nurture high-quality sports talents among Cambodian children living abroad, particularly those with promising sporting potential.

This collaboration is a testament to the commitment of both parties to uplift the standards of sports within the Cambodian community, both at home and abroad. With the shared goal of advancing the athletic prowess of Cambodian youth, this agreement opens up new avenues for sports development and international sporting achievements for Cambodia.
